Doesn't it drive you crazy? No matter how much we scrub and wash our faces, blackheads seem unstoppable. What can you do about it, you wonder? We have some ideas! Here are some good ways to keep your skin clear and maybe even avoid blackheads.
EditSteps
Method One: The Nose Strip
- 1Wash your hands well. When clean, apply a sanitizer to your hands. This will ensure that you're not adding germs of any sort to your soon-to-be-open pores.

- 3Apply the strip. Open the packet that the nose strip is in, and rip the little tabs for a better fit on your nose.
- Put the sticky side on your nose, wet it again and wait for around ten minutes.

- 4Zap the zits. After ten minutes, the nose strip should be as hard as papier mache. Remove it and those unsightly blackheads, and discard.
Method Two: The Removing Tool
- 1Clean and disinfect your blackhead removing tool. Using soap and water to clean, and isopropyl alcohol to disinfect.
- 2Steam your face. Fill a wide bowl with hot (but not boiling) water.
- Rest your head over the water, so that your face can take advantage of the steam. This will open your pores and soften up the blackheads for easier removal.

- 3Remove the blackheads. After about 10 minutes of steaming, your face should be soft, supple, and ready for action.
- Align the tool so that the soon-to-be-obliterated blackhead is in between the V-notch in the tool.
- Press down, expelling the sebum from the pore.
- Repeat as necessary.

Method Three: The Facial Scrub
- 1Wash your face and rinse with water. Do not bother to dry it.
- 2Prep the scrub. Take a small coin-sized amount of facial scrub and lather through clean hands.
- 3Exfoliate. Massage your face with the scrub to exfoliate the skin.
- 4Rinse and wash face again if necessary. Repeat this once or twice a day.
- Caution: don't exfoliate too vigorously, or you could give yourself a friction burn.

Method Four: Steaming
- 1You may be familiar with this method of treating colds. However, it is also highly effective in treating blackheads.
- 2Boil up a pot of water. Adding lemon is an option, or use aromatherapy to take advantage of other beneficial effects of steam..
- 3Steam yourself. Throwing a towel over your head so it covers the pot and keeps the steam within, lean over the pot and breathe deeply.
- Do this for five minutes, until your face is quite wet from steam and also perspiration. This opens your pores.

- 4Lose the blackheads. At this point, you may choose to run a cotton makeup pad over affected areas to dislodge blackheads, or use a removing tool as described above.
- Continuing on, add some cooler water to the pot so that the water remains quite hot—but not boiling—so that you may apply it to afflicted areas. Do so with a wet cotton pad, wringing it out and pressing blackhead areas with the pad.
- Ensure the pad remains hot. Also, be careful not to burn yourself!
- Cleanse your face normally after the use of this method.

Method Five: Waxing At a Salon
- 1Wax your nose, or other afflicted locations. Next time you're in for a waxing, ask the beautician to wax your nose and other places with blackheads. Most beauticians have done this before.
- Contrary to some reports, it is a myth that hairs will grow where you wax, unless it's in places where hair normally grows.
